I got boho locs pre-made but installed as individual. She didn't ask me bring anything additional and I noticed that she was making the hair pieces she needed out of what I had already. The services here are very fast but we also do a significant amount of detangle in preparation to ensure the process is less painful for my daughter. The braider can (amazingly) duplicate styles with just a few pictures. We are usually out in about two hours and pay $140. The braids last for about 6 weeks with good care....more

Overall, I had a good experience! First, I called and was able to speak with the owner who was very knowledgeable and seemed to truly care about my potential experience and outcome. They were able to book me the same day which was MUCH appreciated and even were flexible with my schedule as it changed throughout the day. Unfortunately, I showed up about 30 mins late and they were kind and accommodating! Honestly, I don’t love the building and didn’t notice running water in the studio (there was a jug with water in it for when we needed to wet my hair). While this didn’t slow the process, I opted not to get my hair washed with this method this time. I plan to be back, however, and may choose that service then.

The braiding was fast and accurate. Perfect was my braider and she was kind and professional. There was a bit of a language barrier and styling was a challenge. That said, I am pleased with my service and would encourage others to patron this business. I also really liked that they had several ways to accept payment that were convenient and quick.

I went looking for braids for my upcoming trip and decided on Fulani braids. First, parking is very easy to find. You can park right in front of the shop or in the parking garage that is right next to the shop.

She was very accommodating and did a wonderful job with the design that I wanted with this style. In addition, install beads in my hair when asked.

The best part is the cost which was great and I’m just in love with the style as this is my first time getting this type of style. I plan on coming back again for my next braiding style and recommend it to others!...more

I’ve gone here 4 times now. I will go again. I appreciate that the price is all inclusive so there’s no surprises. Hair included. And just 25 for adding a wash and blow dry before the braiding.
My preferred braiders are Ms. Robbie and Ms. Mary. Trust those magic hands and they are good to ask if it feels too tight.

No one is perfect so I highly recommend if you have sensitivities, you should was as blowdry your own hair....more

Ms.Hawa's brading salon is the best in my opinion. No hassle or telling you one price and then changing it up. Ms.Hawa is very sweet and kind. I have been going there since 2020 and if she moves locations i will be traveling there. I have a child with autism and Ms.Hawa made accommodations for my child now my child will not go anywhere where else. Now i have all my family going to Ms.Hawa's. I have meet all ladies at the salon and everyone is kind. There is no waiting long period after you're appointed time Ms.Hawa does not over book. And the price Ms.Hawa says is the price you pay no changing up like at some other salons. If you want to be treated like a human and not a number. Give Ms.Hawa's brading salon a try. Came here for the first time today and I absolutely loved it. I walked in and was sat down and started right away. They provided the hair I was out of there within four hours even with just one woman on my head. The shop is super clean. Everyone is very nice. The lady who did my hair was extremely gentle and was always checking in with me. She was also very receptive when I said that I would like things done a certain way. This is the best experience I’ve had in African shop so far and I have been to three within the DMV. UPDATE- I git my hair done 4 months ago (review below) and again yesterday. My Boho braids were even better than before!! My stylish was Robbie and I highly recommend her. She was so gentle...braided to perfection and her parts are sooo clean. The owner is just as kind. My hair was 360. They supplied all the hair. They are worth EVERY price.

My hair has been done for about 2.5 weeks now. I wanted to give my hair sometime before I did a HONEST review.

1. The owner was super professiona and very nice. Offered to let you watch whatever you wanted to. She had water and most of all the place was clean.

2. The shop is super convenient to downtown Silver Spring and is in a safe, clean location. No rift raft hanging around or in her shop.

3. Her staff was extremely pleasant as well. You don't get the uncomfortable feeling like they are "talking about" you.

4. My hair. My 1st time getting my hair this was. They answered all my questions. My braided was extremely gently throughout my head. She asked my opinion about the amount of baby hair (I hate) to leave out.

5. Time. She started at 810 amm and was done done at 1245 pmm

6. Cost. $380 ($260 style + $60 × 2 for good quality weave bundles)
They style without the better quality hair is $260.

7. Hair. They provided all hair

My hair is still holding. I am very pleased. However, I will say that there is just a few shedding which is to be expected. It is due to the hairstyle not the braided.

Saw bad reviews for a bunch of braiders at other places so my coworker recommended me to go here.

Called on Sunday at 5p and I had an appointment easyy for Monday at 1p! I was low key stressed bc I go on vacation soon but I shouldn’t have worried. I came in with my hair washed (bc I prefer my own products/process) and Oma blowdryed + braided knotless boho braids. I wanted them close to my chest and she did amazingly clean parts with just the right amount of tension to be freshly tight but not TOO tight.

It took about 6hrs with just one person which I’m happy with since it usually takes me a day and a half to braid, twist or faux loc my own hair. I don’t get my hair braided often but when I do, I’ll be coming back here!

I brought a book and charged phone but, they had p good reception and a TV on playing afrobeats half the time >>>...more

UPDATE: I have been going to Hair By Hawa for three years now and each time the staff and owner have been professional and excellent. This last time, I have received so many compliments on my knotless braids for the color and styling. They continue to be the only hair braiding service I will use in the DMV. They have so many colors on hand that you really don’t have to bring your own hair. The products that they use are quality.
